Not a spoiler, just a question: That they seem to be painting Slam
Bradley's son as the father (dead, missing, etc.) a not so subtle
clues, or a big red herring?

I think people might want that too much, so they're going to turn in a
different direction....

I think DC is running entirely on nostalgia theese days, from the
return of Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen to the re-introduction of the
Atomic Knights and the Force of July (ummm, sorry, Freedom Ring, oh,
um, S.H.A.D.E.). On that basis I'd say that the father of Catwoman's
daughter Helena will turn out to be Bruce Wayne. Even if they say
something else at first, it'll be true sometime down the line.

It is more likely that he won't be the biological father but will end
up filling the role anyway. You are right that nostalgia is key at DC
these days but, when they bring back a classic character or storyline,
they usually try to add a new twist or two...and Bruce not being the
real father would be it.

I think Bruce not being the father is par for the course. The real
twist would be if he was the in continuity father of a child

Well, if you read the sollicits for Grant Morrison's first arc on
Batman, then you'll see that his and Talia's kid seems to be back in
continuity...so there you go.

These days the hints are all that Tim becomes Batman II.

Really? I though Bruce asked him about this and Tim said no? Either
way, Tim is getting too old to be Robin, modified costume or not. He's
18 now? Dick was 19 or 20 when he stopped being Robin. True it looked
more gay for Dick to be running around in fairy boots and short shorts
in his 20's that it would look for Tim to be in his current costume,
but still...

Ah, but now some people remember the *other* Dick Grayson, the
one who was still Robin in his fifties...

But didn't he don an adult costume and distance himself from Bruce even
earlier than Nighwing? He was still Robin and leading the JSA, whereas
the other Dick Grayson was still the leader of Titans, but he was
running back to the batcave to help out every chance he got

Tim has also often stated in Titans that he doesn't want to grow up
to be as distant and obsessed as Bruce.
That he doesn't want to be Batman II.
Yet ever since we were shown a possible future in which Tim does
become Batman II, he _has_ been becoming more distant and obsessed.

Yet Dick E-2 never stopped.

He never stopped being Robin but he stopped being Batman's partner.
That's key

I missed something in this conversation....

Is this regarding Robin being Robin with his costume... or Robin being the
tail end of Batman and....?

Because while, the E2 Robin stopped being the tail end of Batman and.... he
was still Robin.
